Bulgaria and Romania have lifted their internal air and sea border controls on March 31 and officially become members of the Schengen area after a 13-year long process.
The number of Schengen Area Member States has increased to 29 after Bulgaria and Romania finally joined the border-free zone.
With this move, tourists who are flying into these countries will not be needing a separate visa and can use their Schengen visas.
The Schengen accession of these two Member States will make the common area more attractive by significantly expanding the world’s largest common area without internal border controls.
